Message from the co-directors of Stage Sight:

Stage Sight organisational activity is currently paused however we are still dedicated to its aim of widening the representation of our workforce backstage and offstage roles to be more reflective of our society today. We are pleased to see various initiatives being undertaken by organisations across the UK and hope to see more as time progresses.

"As our industry faces yet another shift in direction and leadership, Stage Sight continues to support and champion our colleagues and friends. We may not be totally visible at present but rest assured that myself and fellow co-directors, Michelle and Mark are constantly working on positioning Stage Sight within the sector to enable our community to thrive"  Tony Gayle

“Creating a more equitable industry continues to be my core career driver. Stage Sight may be quiet, but the co-directors and committee continue to promote its values and aims. Our industry has moved forward but true change takes time and we will always need more activists and advocates. As a disabled producer I want to be employing more people from diverse backgrounds, which will happen if we work together to break down barriers and change attitudes.”  Michelle Rolfe

Post-pandemic, I believe we are all still balancing the appetite for “back to normal “ with the challenge that “everything is (in-fact) different”. The need to build inclusive workplaces with a more representative backstage workforce remains as urgent as when Prema first set up Stage Sight. But what got us here, will not get us there and Michelle, Tony and I are working to find the proper fit for Stage Sight to support and enhance the work that is being undertaken across the sector.”  Mark Dakin

Stage Sight is committed to widening the representation of our workforce in backstage and offstage roles to be more reflective of our society today, inclusive of ethnicity, class and disability.
